WTRF Transport Update: Success on the Road!
We’ll be the first to admit—we’re not exactly social media pros. But we couldn’t let this moment pass without sharing some great news with our amazing supporters.
Over the past six weeks, our incredible driver Lee has completed three long haul trips, safely transporting more than 30 beautiful dogs from local shelters to our fantastic rescue partner in Oregon.
These life-saving journeys wouldn’t be possible without your generous support. From gas and lodging to food, insurance, and vehicle maintenance—every mile comes with a cost. But thanks to you, the wheels keep turning and the dogs keep arriving safely.
Thank you for being part of the journey. Your kindness truly drives us forward!

Today, WTRF hoofed it out to Sonoma and had the udder joy of rescuing two lovely senior goats. Their human could no longer care for them, but now these sweet old ladies are on to greener pastures—literally!
They're settling in at a wonderful rescue and sanctuary where they'll be pampered and loved for the rest of their days. No more worries, just hay, hugs, and happy bleats ahead!

HerIt's spay day for sweet Roxanne, the Petite Pittie girl we helped spring from a local shelter last week. The current terrible pet overpopulation crisis is largely the result of owners not altering their pets. We know it can be expensive! Reach out to us or any local shelter or rescue for help finding lower cost spay/neuter programs. It saves lives, like that of this beautiful girl!

Welcome to WTRF, Sammy!
After four wonderful years with our beloved fospice boy, Mr. Dan, we knew it was time to turn the sadness of his passing into an opportunity to help for another senior in need. Sammy, a 15-year-old gentleman from the @napacountyanimalshelter joined our WTRF family.
Though he comes to us with a few health challenges—bad teeth, some hind leg weakness, and flea strike on his ears—we’re ready to give him all the love and care he deserves. Sammy was surrendered when his family could no longer care for him, but he’s found his new home with us.
Senior pets may have a few extra needs, but they give so much in return. They’re loving, wise, and incredibly grateful companions who deserve a second chance. If you’ve ever considered opening your heart to a senior pet, we can’t recommend it enough and would be happy to help you search for the perfect companion.
Welcome home, little Sammy!

At Waggin’ Trails Rescue, every journey is a story of hope, second chances, and love. When our dedicated driver, Lee, received a call from the Martinez Animal Shelter, we knew we had to spring into action. A beautiful Husky mix named Cade had finally found his forever family in San Diego, but there was one problem—he had no way of getting there. That’s where we stepped in. With hearts full of joy and determination, we arranged for a multi-leg transport. Lee personally took Cade from the Martinez Shelter to Los Angeles, where his new San Diego family anxiously awaited to welcome him into their home. In that moment, Cade’s journey of love and belonging truly began.
Just days after Cade’s heartwarming reunion, two more souls in need crossed our path. Whiskey and Seph, two Terrier mixes, found themselves in the Martinez Shelter with no means of reaching their new forever home in Newport Beach. Seph’s story was especially heartbreaking—found tied to a pole along a busy road before being rescued. But their future was bright, and with Waggin’ Trails by their side, we ensured their journey was filled with care and compassion. They are now safe, loved, and on their way to the best chapters of their lives with the incredible team at Songs Rescue.
These success stories are the heart of what we do. Every time we help a dog find their forever home, we are reminded why our mission is so important. Waggin’ Trails Rescue is honored to be a part of these incredible journeys, connecting dogs to families and giving them the chance to live their best lives. And with every mile, we celebrate the joy of second chances.

We're on the road again! This time we are headed to our partner rescue with six dogs from the @napaanimalshelter and four from @solanoanimalcare. Remember the 20 dogs we took from the Napa County hoarding case awhile back...well three are still at the Napa Shelter, where they were lovingly cared for and socialized. This week they are heading North to finally have families to call their own!

We love happy pupdates! This is Ellie, Simon and their brother Angus. Ellie came to us from the Los Banos shelter with a litter of puppies. Our friends Loretta and Carmel adopted both mom Ellie and one of her pups. They are now living life to its fullest.

Today we sprung Maui from the Solano shelter in collaboration with @californiadoodlerescues. He is a perfect gentleman in every way. Sadly, people surrender pets for many reasons. Shelters find themselves with animals of all breeds, ages, and personalities. Please look to your local shelter or rescue instead of buying! Lives, just like Maui's depend on it!
